Maria Spetalnik
Conquer the Clutter

Organizing / Hoarding / Crime

Maria Spetalnik, Speaker, OrganizerClutter continues to be a growing problem for people of all ages, incomes, and level of education. The “Paperless Society” we were promised would be here by the year 2000 has not arrived. Maria has been helping people gain control of their lives for over 20 years. She helps those with all levels of clutter from overfull junk drawers all the way up to hoarders.

Maria tailors every speech to the group she is in front of. While she speaks on many topics, she is mostly asked to talk about hoarding. Every year Maria teaches police and fire officials in Fairfax County Virginia how to work with hoarders and their families. This year she has also spoken to the Elder Alliance, the Women’s Center and other groups of all sizes from 10 to 200. Maria is a very dynamic speaker who brings her audience into her presentations and consistently receives great reviews for program content and presentation.

This class teaches police, fire, code compliance, animal control and other governmental officials about hoarding. We discuss what causes hoarding, what you should expect from the hoarder, safety concerns and how you can help the hoarder and their family improve their situation to the benefit of the community.

Hoarding - Lifestyle Choice or Community Danger?

This presentation discusses how to tell when hoarding may be occurring in your neighborhoods, when you should be concerned, what causes hoarding, how to get help and how to work with the hoarder and their family. This is particularly geared toward Elder Service Providers, property managers and others that deal with the public in their home environments.
