Bob Keiper, Persuasion The Gentle Art of Persuasion

Short of initiating the use of force, you can’t make people do what you want them to do. Not you spouse or your children, not your colleagues, your boss or your customers. Nobody. You can tell them what you want loudly or softly, you can argue, plead, cajole, implore or stomp your feet and hold your breath. But until you fully and deeply understand and use the “Gentle Art of Persuasion,” you will succeed in your purpose only a fraction of the time.

I didn’t invent the Gentle Art of Persuasion.  But I began to notice things about it some years ago and put a few of those pieces together, while looking for other components that seemed to fit. Now I realize it is a true system that a few people have successfully understood and used, probably for thousands of years.

The heart of the persuasion system is so simple it can be expressed in a single sentence. But the successful use of it requires behavioral changes that can be intimidating to undertake and frustrating to make habitual.  Fortunately, the payback is almost immediate, and the extraordinary rewards tend to keep you on track.

The secret is this:  While you can’t make people do what you want them to do, with the right attitude and the right persuasion processes, you can create an environment that will, without manipulation, cause your listener to want to do what you want them to do.

If the truth is on your side, if your product or service or aspirations are as worthy as you believe them to be, I can help you and your people more fully and quickly achieve your goals and we’ll both have fun in the learning process.
